Bruno Chan

Andrew Chan Hing-wai (陳慶偉), recorded under the name Bruno Chan, is a Judge of the Court of First Instance, a position he has held since August 2012. He graduated from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1984, received an LLB from the University of London External System in 1989, and was called to the bar in England at Gray's Inn and in Hong Kong. He became a District Judge in 2007, was appointed a High Court Judge in 2012, and in 2015 was appointed Chairman of the Inquiry into the incidents of excess lead found in drinking water.

Bruno Chan appears primarily at first instance, most often in the Court of First Instance, presiding over judicial review and immigration matters, particularly non-refoulement claims, in reported cases such as SRI RAHAYU V.
